Fast Delivery to the US: How Shipping Times Really Work in Print-on-Demand

Fast Delivery to the US: How Shipping Times Really Work in Print-on-Demand

US buyers pay close attention to delivery times. A parcel from Turkey that takes weeks can lead to cancellations, negative reviews and marketplace warnings. One of the biggest advantages of print-on-demand is that the item can be produced at a facility close to the buyer and shipped domestically from there. This article explains how many days that really takes and how to protect your delivery performance.

1. Delivery time has two parts

The total time a buyer sees is the sum of:

  • Production time: from the order being sent to production until it is handed to the carrier. In Igora's production partner network the target is usually 1-3 business days.
  • Shipping time: standard domestic US shipping is mostly 2-5 business days, depending on the destination and the carrier.

So a realistic total for a US buyer is about 3-8 business days for most orders. That is clearly faster than international shipping from Turkey, but "at the door in 1-3 days" would not be accurate. Use the total when you make a promise to the buyer.

What wins in delivery is not a speed claim but keeping your promise. Stating a realistic time and delivering on it always beats an ambitious time you then miss.

2. Why produce in the US?

When the item is made in the buyer's country, customs waits and international transit risk disappear. Facilities on the East Coast (such as the New Jersey area) are close to dense regions like New York, Philadelphia and Boston, so shipping there is usually shorter. Your order is routed to a suitable facility in the network depending on the product type and stock availability.

3. The order flow, step by step

  1. A buyer orders from your Etsy, Shopify or Amazon store; the order arrives in the Igora panel automatically.
  2. The products in the order must be matched in the panel with the production partner's products. Unmatched orders are held and flagged as "action needed".
  3. The production and shipping cost is deducted from your wallet. If the balance is insufficient the order is not sent to production; it is retried automatically once you top up.
  4. The item is produced, packed and handed to the carrier.
  5. The tracking number is sent to the marketplace and the buyer is notified.

Most delays happen at steps 2 and 3. Completing product matching before you publish and keeping enough wallet balance for a few days of orders are the easiest ways to protect your delivery times.

4. Set up your marketplace settings correctly

  • Etsy: set processing time to 1-3 business days to match production, and your shipping profile to standard domestic US transit times. On-time shipping and tracking rates directly affect your shop's performance.
  • Amazon and eBay: handling-time commitments are strict; track your late shipment and late delivery rates regularly. The time you promise should comfortably cover production plus shipping.
  • Shopify: show the estimated delivery window clearly on the product page and in the cart.

5. Peak season and possible delays

In November and December (Black Friday, Cyber Monday and the holidays) both production facilities and carriers get busy. Adding a day or two to your processing time and announcing shipping cut-off dates in your shop is good practice. Weather and carrier disruptions can also extend times; these are outside anyone's control.

6. If an item arrives damaged or defective

For print errors, production defects or damage in transit, contact our support team within 30 days of delivery with photos of the item. If the defect is confirmed, the item is reproduced free of charge or its cost is refunded to your wallet. Details are in the terms of service.
